Sr. ServiceNow Automation Engineer | Location: East Rutherford, NJ; Manhattan, NY; Richmond, VA; Dallas, TX | Contract

We are seeking a Senior ServiceNow Automation Engineer to design, develop, and maintain enterprise automation solutions that streamline IT operations and service delivery. This hybrid role focuses on building end-to-end ServiceNow workflows, developing custom JavaScript solutions, and integrating platforms through REST APIs and automation tools such as Ansible. You’ll collaborate with infrastructure, security, and operations teams in an Agile environment to deliver scalable, secure automation.

Key Responsibilities

• Automates high-priority tasks, services, and end-to-end workflows across Infrastructure, Platforms & Operations using ServiceNow.
• Designs, develops, and maintains end-to-end ServiceNow Workflows of varying complexity.
• Executes the full software development lifecycle for automation projects, from requirements gathering through deployment, maintenance, support, and hand-over.
• Creates advanced automation scripts using JavaScript to address complex business requirements and develop custom endpoints.
• Collaborates in Agile and Scaled Agile frameworks with cross-functional teams, including infrastructure, security, and service teams, to deliver integrated solutions.
• Implements secure coding practices and ensures automation solutions comply with enterprise security policies and banking regulations where applicable.
• Documents solutions, creates runbooks, and maintains knowledge base articles.
• Stays current with emerging automation technologies and contributes to automation standards, best practices, and governance frameworks.
• Performs other duties as assigned as needed.

Required Qualifications

• ServiceNow proficiency in Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, Orchestration, and MID Server configuration.
• Advanced skill with JavaScript and Glide APIs, including GlideRecord, GlideAjax, Script Includes, Business Rules, and Client Scripts.
• Strong grasp of RITM/SCTASK models, Order Guides, variable sets, UI policies, and data-driven approvals.
• Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure and the ServiceNow CMDB data model.
• Strong knowledge of leveraging REST API integrations such as Ansible/Aria to handle payload and response data within a flow design.
• Strong knowledge of workflow design best practices for security and performance.
• Experience working with an Agile/SDLC framework.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent background or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Ansible Automation Platform.
• Knowledge of secure coding standards.
• Experience in a banking environment.
