ServiceNow Software Asset Management (SAM) Specialist

We are seeking a ServiceNow Software Asset Management (SAM) Specialist with 3–4 years of hands-on experience to support a strategic SAM implementation initiative. This contractor will operate as an extension of the internal IT Asset Management function and collaborate closely with the implementation partner to drive successful delivery across design, configuration, data readiness, testing, and enablement workstreams.

Key Responsibilities
• Partner with the implementation vendor to operationalize SAM processes, workflows, and configurations within the ServiceNow platform.
• Support requirements gathering, solution validation, and functional design discussions to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and governance.
• Coordinate and execute data collection, normalization, and reconciliation activities related to software entitlements, installations, and license models.
• Assist in building discovery mappings, integration inputs, and license reconciliation logic to ensure accurate compliance reporting.
• Participate in system testing (SIT/UAT), defect tracking, and release readiness activities.
• Prepare documentation including process maps, configuration guides, user training content, and operational procedures.
• Serve as a central liaison across ITAM, Procurement, Security, and vendor stakeholders to resolve data gaps and clarify software licensing requirements.
• Provide day-to-day support to ensure the implementation project remains on schedule and risk-managed.

Required Qualifications
• 3–4 years of experience in Software Asset Management, with at least 1–2 years working directly with ServiceNow SAM.
• Strong understanding of software licensing models (e.g., Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, SaaS subscriptions).
• Familiarity with ServiceNow Discovery, CMDB, normalization, reconciliation rules, and entitlement workflows.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a matrixed, vendor-supported delivery environment.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder-coordination skills.
• Ability to analyze large data sets, identify discrepancies, and drive remediation with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills
• Experience supporting SAM tool deployments or enhancements in an enterprise environment.
• Understanding of ITAM, HAM, and Procurement interdependencies.
• ServiceNow certifications (SAM, ITAM, or related modules) are advantageous.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a ServiceNow Software Asset Management (SAM) Specialist, based in Delhi, OH. The SAM Specialist will oversee asset management processes using the ServiceNow platform, ensuring effective tracking, compliance, and optimization of software licenses. Key responsibilities include implementing and configuring ServiceNow SAM modules, conducting license audits, providing actionable insights for cost savings, and collaborating with teams to improve software asset management practices.

Qualifications
• Proficiency in Software Development and Programming, with a strong understanding of coding languages.
• Knowledge and experience in working with Databases and performing complex data management tasks.
• Expertise in Software Design, including development of workflow automation within platforms like ServiceNow.
• Strong ability in Testing software solutions, ensuring functionality, accuracy, and adherence to organizational needs.
• Relevant certifications such as ServiceNow SAM certifications would be an advantage.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Proven experience in software license compliance and understanding of IT asset management principles.
