Sr. ServiceNow Platform Engineer
Location: Reston, VA (Hybrid – 2x/week in office)
Must-Have Qualifications
• 10+ years of ServiceNow platform development experience (deep expertise in ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, SecOps; GRC a plus)
• Proven experience leading technical teams on large-scale ServiceNow projects, including full lifecycle implementations
• Strong knowledge of ServiceNow architecture, workflows, integrations, custom apps, and Service Portal
• Skilled in scripting languages for ServiceNow development; experience with APIs, Integration Hub, and Spokes
• Solid understanding of CMDB, Asset Management, Discovery, Incident, Problem, and Change Management
• Excellent leadership, mentoring, and communication skills (able to present technical concepts to business leaders)
• Must reside within a reasonable commute to Reston, VA, or be motivated to relocate prior to starting (relocation assistance provided)
• US Citizen/Green Card holder preferred; H-1B transfer may be considered
Preferred Certifications:
ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (ITSM/ITAM or similar), ServiceNow CSA, CAD, ITIL v3/v4, Certified Technical Architect (CTA)
Position Overview
As the Senior ServiceNow Platform Engineer, you will take a lead role in shaping the organization’s ServiceNow platform strategy and delivery. This role involves platform implementation, optimization, solution design, and providing technical leadership to ensure scalable, secure, and innovative ServiceNow solutions that align with business objectives.
You’ll collaborate closely with business leaders, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams while mentoring ServiceNow engineers, driving platform adoption, and delivering measurable value to the organization.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead overall platform design and roadmap, ensuring scalability, performance, and compliance
• Design and implement workflows, integrations, and modules to extend ServiceNow functionality
• Manage upgrades, optimize applications, and enforce enterprise security standards
• Provide governance, best practices, and mentorship for ServiceNow engineering teams
• Partner with IT, Security, Finance, HR, and business stakeholders to align solutions with organizational needs
• Deliver technical documentation, process knowledge, and training for stakeholders
• Stay current with ServiceNow trends/releases and apply innovations to enhance platform value
