Job Description As a ServiceNow Platform Owner, you will be the system’s strategic gatekeeper, capable of bridging the gap between business needs and technical delivery. You will work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions. This role requires deep expertise in the ServiceNow platform (preferably with hands-on development background), strong business acumen, and the ability to gather, assess, and translate complex requirements into scalable, automated solutions aligned with organizational goals. Strengths lie in translating platform capabilities into clear processes, guardrails, and value for non-technical stakeholders. Roles & Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Define and own the ServiceNow Platform roadmap to align with business and IT strategy. Establish and enforce governance standards: naming conventions, role/assignment group roles, documentation approvals and building guidelines. Serve as the gatekeeper for all platform changes, reviewing and approving development requests before implementation. Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating needs into clear actionable requirements. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and validate requirements. Ensure platform health and compliance through regular audits, license management and configuration reviews. Lead quality assurance efforts including test planning, execution, and defect resolution. Guide and mentor development team, ensuring adherence to best practices, coding, documentation and platform standards. Stay current with ServiceNow capabilities including releases and recommend enhancements to improve platform capabilities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Create and manage roadmaps, backlog grooming, and user story documentation within Agile/Scrum frameworks. Conduct governance forums or technical review meetings, approving or rejecting development requests to enforce consistency and prevent technical debt. Conduct workshops and requirement-gathering sessions with cross-functional teams to align platform features with business outcomes. Ability to work independently and with other team members; take ownership of end-to-end project execution. Approve documentation (designs, requirements, SOWs) before development begins, ensuring standardization and audit-readiness. Ensure detailed documentation of workflows, architecture diagrams, data models, and user guides. Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process improvement through automation and digitization using the ServiceNow platform. Monitor platform health (e.g. CMDB integrity, MID servers, Update sets, licenses) and conduct regular audits for compliance with guardrails. Perform system administration tasks including user access, security roles, and platform upgrades. Provide guidance to developers and admins, reviewing design and code and enforcing best practices in development and testing. Maintain and enhance ServiceNow CMDB health and discovery capabilities using ITOM modules. Maintain backlog prioritization through structured demand governance. Ensure platform compliance with IT security, data privacy, and audit requirements. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related technical field. ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification. Strong communication skills 8+ years working with ServiceNow; ideally including developer and platform administration roles. Hands-on experience with ITSM, ITOM, IRM/GRC, HRSD, CSM, and/or custom scoped applications. Proven experience in Agile or Scrum methodology. Expert understanding of ServiceNow’s low-code/no-code capabilities, scripting model (client rules, workflow, Flow Designer), integrations (REST, SOAP, OAuth2, MID server). Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with stakeholders and executives. Experience handling enterprise-level ServiceNow upgrades and release readiness testing. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to platform improvements. DESIRABLE / CERTIFICATIONS: Preferred: Certified Application Developer (CAD); Certified Implementation Specialist (ITSM / ITOM / GRC / HRSD) Plus: Certified Agile Business Analyst or CBAP (IIBA); Technical Architect (CTA) Exposure to AI Search, Virtual Agent, Performance Analytics, and Predictive Intelligence Familiarity with ServiceNow App Engine Studio, UI Builder, and Workspaces Understanding of data modeling, process automation, and platform scalability strategies Eligibility Video Camera Usage: Availity fosters a collaborative and open culture where communication and engagement are central to our success.
