Senior ServiceNow Developer O&M Expert Washington, DC- Hybrid- Candidates from the DMV areas are preferred Long term Job Description: We are seeking a Senior ServiceNow Developer with deep expertise in Operations and Maintenance (O&M) to join our team supporting enterprise-wide ServiceNow environments. This role involves ongoing platform support, module enhancements, performance optimization, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain and improve ServiceNow functionality in alignment with evolving business needs. The ideal candidate will have experience working in fast-paced production environments-especially within government or regulated sectors-and will be responsible for supporting day-to-day operations, managing incidents and change requests, and continuously improving existing modules such as ITSM, ITOM, CMDB, Incident, Change, and Problem Management. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide sustained O&M support for the ServiceNow platform, ensuring platform stability and performance.
• Implement minor enhancements, bug fixes, and upgrades to existing ServiceNow modules.
• Develop and maintain workflows, business rules, client scripts, UI policies, ACLs, and notifications.
• Work closely with business stakeholders, analysts, and process owners to triage and resolve ServiceNow issues.
• Monitor health of CMDB, Discovery, and integrations; take proactive measures to avoid service disruptions.
• Perform root cause analysis, issue resolution, and post-incident documentation.
• Support platform upgrades and patching; test and validate changes in sub-prod environments.
• Configure and maintain MID Servers, Discovery Schedules, Event Rules, and operational dashboards.
• Maintain platform documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base articles.
• Provide knowledge transfer and mentor junior ServiceNow team members.
Required Skills & Experience:
• 10+ years of experience in ServiceNow development and administration
• Strong background in ITSM and ITOM modules (especially CMDB, Discovery, Event Management)
• Hands-on experience with Operations and Maintenance in enterprise ServiceNow environments
• In-depth understanding of platform architecture, update sets, and release management
• Experience with ServiceNow integrations (REST/SOAP, LDAP, AD, SCCM, Splunk, etc.)
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum, incident/change management, and DevOps principles
• Ability to analyze production issues and deliver reliable, maintainable solutions
• Strong scripting skills: JavaScript, Glide APIs, HTML/CSS
• Familiarity with government security standards, FedRAMP, or ITIL practices is a plus
Preferred Certifications:
• ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
• Certified Implementation Specialist (ITSM/ITOM)
• ITIL v4 Foundation
